Assignment Title: Community Nutrition Internship Materials
What I learned: During my internship for my community nutrition course, I was required to make appropriate nutrition education handouts. I made two over the course of the semester, and then passed them out during my sessions. I had to research the information, make it into a brochure, and hand it out at the sessions I gave to college students.
Reflection to assignment: I enjoyed this assignment and my internship. The information I was able to gather and pass on to students was also pertinent to me. I learned a lot and grew a lot during this time. I was able to overcome many fears that I had about speaking to groups, and also to make nutrition education handouts.
Relevance to the profession: This assignment helped me to understand community nutrition on a deeper level. I was able to learn how to make affective nutrition education material, which I had not had previous experience with in the past. This is very relevant to our profession. We need to learn how to find and make nutrition education material, since it is used so often in different nutritional settings. I now feel I am capable of doing so, and of presenting it.
